The UVa Summer Hindi Language Program in New Delhi provides students with the equivalent of two semesters of intermediate language instruction (HIND 2010/2020, satisfying the College of Arts and Sciences' foreign language requirement) in an intensive, immersion environment. Based at the University of Pune, University of Pennsylvania's program courses in Indian history, Indian Society, performing arts, and traditional medicine.

Himalayan Health Exchange (HHE)

Through guided study/fieldwork in a remote Himalayan Tibetan Borderland, HHE will offer students a practical approach to the study of India and the Himalayan culture in a socio-cultural, medical and religious context. During their journey, team members will have the opportunity to investigate local history, religious beliefs and practices, modern human adaptations, regional effects of globalization, monastic influence and local healthcare.

Programs through University of Wisconsin

These programs provide language training, tutorial instruction, and opportunity for independent fieldwork. Study abroad is preceded by 10 credits of summer language study in Madison; Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Nepali, and Tibetan will be offered. Students of third- and fourth-year standing as well as recent graduates, nationwide, are eligible. Deadline: 1st Friday in February. Applications available from:

Buddhist Studies in Bodh Gaya, India

Antioch University's program of study and meditation is held near the site of Buddha Shakyamuni's enlightenment. Classes may be taken in Buddhist Philosophy, Ancient Indian History, or Contemporary Buddhist Culture, and students may elect to take introductory classes in Hindi or Tibetan. Meditation instruction and field research projects are key components of this program. Classes will be taught by Antioch faculty with guest lectures given by professors from Magadha University. The National Security Education Program (NSEP) was designed to provide American students with the resources and encouragement they need to acquire skills and experiences in areas of the world critical to the future security of our nation, in exchange for a commitment to seek work in the federal government.Undergraduates apply for NSEP David L. NIRMAN College Courses in India

New Academic Semester Abroad in India, located at the campus of NIRMAN in Varanasi, India, with opportunities to travel to other locations.
