The Charlottesville & University Symphony Orchestra combines faculty, students and community members, under the guidance of professional principal players and Music Director Kate Tamarkin. CUSO performs twelve outstanding concerts each year. The symphony’s concerts feature solo performances by orchestra principals as well as collaborations with the University Singers and guest soloists such as pianist Andrew Armstrong and cellist Uri Vardi. Each year the orchestra presents its popular Family Holiday Concerts in collaboration with the University Singers. Symphony performances regularly attract a full house of music lovers who come from all over Central Virginia to hear these concerts.

Our popular annual event is especially designed for schools and young students. This year’s program, Beethoven: Back to the Future, will present Beethoven's life, his music, his challenges and his victories.
