The ensemble performs as part of the University of Virginia Chamber Music Series.


Albemarle Ensemble

The Albemarle Ensemble, a woodwind quintet including principals from the Charlottesville & University Symphony Orchestra, has been in residence at the University of Virginia since 1987. The quintet has performed throughout the eastern United States, and received a Virginia Arts Grant for educational programs and several other grants for recording and touring projects.

The Ensemble appears on the CD "American Camerata Performs" and "Harlequinade, Wind Music by Walter Ross." High Performance Review magazine described their most recent recording as "splendid...with spirit and understanding" and The Washington Post spoke of the Ensemble's "ease, wit and spontaneity."

The ensemble members serve as orchestra principals, studio instructors, and coaches of chamber music at the University of Virginia. The ensemble includes Alan Cox, flute; Aaron Hill, oboe; Tasha Warren clarinet; Ian Zook, horn and Elizabeth Roberts, bassoon;

The Albemarle Ensemble celebrates founding member Nancy Garlick's 24 years of service and wishes her a very happy retirement.
