Welcome to the 2010-2011 UVA Chamber Music Series Season!

Combining dynamic programming and the talents of the performance faculty of the McIntire Department of Music of the University of Virginia announces the 2010-2011 Season: The Art of Music.

Line, shape, value, form, space, color and texture are the focus of a visual artist’s creation. When one or two of these elements dominate, the result is a work of art with impact. In music, these elements are perhaps more subtle. Musicians study the line of music, the texture of instrumentation, or the shape of a phrase. Patrons appreciate the genius and beauty of music through these elements. Composers are inspired by these elements in other arts which they integrate into their music. These brush strokes in notes create an aural impact and an emotional response. For if art is in the eye of the beholder, then music tantalizes all the senses.
