The McIntire Department of Music depends upon a talented and dedicated student staff to help run the department efficiently. Below is a list of positions open to all full time UVA students.

Building Supervisor

General Office Duties. Serves as receptionist for McIntire Department of Music. Handle music modules and keys. Scheduling classrooms. Opening and closing building.
Reports to the Office Manager, Granville Mullings.

Recording Tech

Recording Techs record concerts given by groups from or sponsored by the McIntire Dept. of Music. The Techs records performances to Compact Disk and wave files, marking programs and discs with program times. Prepare copies of cds as necessary. Techs perform routine checks on equipment; and inventory. Techs are required to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to concert time to set-up and check equipment, check-in with the house manager and performers.
Reports to the Production Manager, Joel Jacobus.

House Managers

House Managers are responsible for everything that happens during an event. House Managers act as host/hostesses before, during and after concerts. Managers recruit and train volunteer ushers, make certain the auditorium is clean and everything is in good working condition, and see to all production details. House Managers work very independently with individual artists involved in each concert or event. Hours vary with event schedule and are usually during the evenings and on week ends.
Reports to the Production Manager, Joel Jacobus.

Promotions & Marketing Assistant

Promote department of music events to faculty, students and community members. Contact editors, residential hall advisors, dean of students office, administration, and student leaders. Writing, oral presentation skills a must. Job responsibilities include writing, editing, proof reading, archiving, and designing.
Reports to the Director of Promotions, Marcy Day.

Web Designer

The Web Designer position with the University of Virginia McIntire Department of Music is a student position responsible for updating and working with the Arts & Sciences Communications web team to maintain all aspects of the department website. The Web Designer should be skilled in valid XHTML, web usability, and writing for the web. Experience with Adobe Contribute, Photoshop, Javascript, PHP, and the ability to configure Apache web server with .htaccess files is a plus. First and second years are preferred. Hours are flexible but are generally around 8 hours per week.
Reports to the Director of Promotions, Marcy Day.
