Family Weekend Choral Showcase featuring the UVa University Singers, UVa Chamber Singers, Virginia Glee Club, & Virginia Women's Chorus

The traditional Family Weekend Choral Showcase will feature the UVa University Singers, UVa Chamber Singers, Virginia Women’s Chorus and Virginia Glee Club in concert on Saturday October 29th, 2011 at 7:00 pm in Old Cabell Hall.  The concert’s lively and varied program will feature selections from all four ensembles’ 2011 repertoire – including Levente’s “Te lucis ante terminum,” an excerpt from Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols,” Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” the Beatles’ “Blackbird,” and Halloran’s “Witness.” 

The evening will close with a joint performance of Parry’s “I Was Glad,” sung at the royal wedding of William and Kate, as well as the beloved UVa songs, sung by the choruses – more than 170 voices strong – who will be joined on stage by their alumni. 

The Virginia Women’s Chorus is conducted by KaeRenae Mitchell, the Virginia Glee Club is led by conductor Frank Albinder, and the University Singers and UVa Chamber Singers are directed by UVa faculty conductor Michael Slon.
