The Spring 2008 schedule for the Linguistic Anthropology Seminar is now available. The Linguistic Anthropology Seminar provides an informal, inter-disciplinary venue for presentations of work-in-progress by faculty, students, and visiting scholars.

"Thousands of languages are threatened with extinction, and a U.S. government project is trying to help save some of them..." Among the institutions awarded grants was the UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA, which received $225,000. Lise Dobrin, a linguist in the anthropology department, will lead a study of Arapesh, which is spoken in Papua New Guinea.
