Financial and performance reports are required for Federal awards by OMB Circular A110, Subpart C, Section 50 -52. Reports for non-federal awards and their timing are determined by individual sponsor guidelines. For all awards, the Principal Investigator is responsible for monitoring the technical progress and reporting to the sponsor. Technical reports may include patent and invention reports. OSP is responsible for the preparation and submission of all financial reports. To ensure the submission of financial reports by the required due dates, PIs are expected to monitor that charges are appropriate and timely.
Interim, annual and final reports may be required. In general, federal awarding agencies either require annual performance reports 90 days after the reporting period, or require annual progress reports prior to the anniversary date for multiple year awards. Final technical reports are due 90 days after the expiration date. Consult the award documents for special requirements.
Sponsors payments may be contingent upon their receipt of satisfactory reports. For some federal sponsors, missing reports for expired projects may prevent issuance of new awards. OSP will take necessary steps to ensure reports are submitted as required by the sponsor.
