Be sure to check with the specific degree programs to which you are applying to see if they have any special requirements. Most of our degree programs admit students for the fall semester only. If you wish to apply for the spring semester, please make certain that the program accepts applications for spring.
Your choice to pursue financial assistance from the University, Graduate School or department of application will affect the deadline by which your complete application (including all supporting materials) should be submitted. Check the application deadlines for specific dates.
Be aware that you must read information about the
U.Va. Honor System (.pdf, 28KB) prior to signing (or completing) the application. Your application will not be complete without a certification that you have read and understand the information about the Honor System.
Using our secure on-line application, submit the three-page application form, your personal statement, the
Virginia In-State Privileges Application Form (.pdf, 153KB), and any letters of recommendation that you have as a digital file. On-line submission requires that you pay your application fee with a credit card. After submitting the on-line application, you will still need to mail, under one cover, recommendations, transcripts, and other supporting documentation to the Graduate Admissions Office, as explained in Step 4.
