Deadline for applications for Astronomy, Chemistry, Drama, Economics, Environmental Sciences, German, Linguistics, Mathematics, Physics, Slavic, and Statistics.
For those programs with the Jan 15th deadline - all applications will close on
JANUARY 15 @ 11:59pm (EST)
If you are applying for a program of study leading to the Ph.D. degree, which may include the award of an M.A. or M.S. degree, most programs only allow entry during the Fall semester of the upcoming academic year.
All applicants for such a program of study at Virginia will be considered for fellowship support. Practically all offers of admission to a Ph.D. program are now accompanied by an offer of significant multi-year financial assistance from the department and the Graduate School. In addition, departments can nominate some applicants for enhanced Jefferson Graduate Fellowships, awarded by the Jefferson Scholars Foundation. These nominations will be made in early February.
Many departments also offer programs of study leading only to the M.A., M.S., or M.F.A. degree, usually for entry in the Fall semester. The following deadlines also apply to these programs.
Summer-Fall Applicants should plan to take required GRE, GRE Subject, TOEFL, or other examinations no later than November 2011 in order to be sure that official scores will reach the Graduate School by the application deadline.
September 1 Applications will become available online for the following Fall admission.
December 15 Deadline for applications for all departments except a few, listed below, that allow applications as late as January 15.
December 15 is also the preferred deadline for Biomedical Sciences and Public Health in the Medical School, but both of these programs may consider later applications on a case by case basis.
January 15 Deadline for applications for Astronomy, Chemistry, Drama, Economics, Environmental Sciences, German, Linguistics, Mathematics, Physics, Slavic, and Statistics.
January-April Admission decisions for the Fall semester are communicated to applicants.
April 15, 2012. Offers of admission that have not yet been accepted can be withdrawn in order to extend any remaining offers to applicants still on a waiting list for final decision.
With the exception of Biomedical Sciences and Public Health, no applications for Fall admission in a program at the Graduate School can be submitted after January 15.
