Alumni Talk on the Financial Crisis

Two of our 2009 BA graduates returned to campus this October to provide an update on the financial crisis. Vadim Elenev works for Cornerstone Consulting in NYC and was the 2009 recipient of the Outstanding Major Award in Economics, and Grace Ng is currently an ethics advisor for Barkeley's Capital in NYC.

Grace and Vadim, who co-taught a student-initiated course on the crisis last spring, provided a post-mortem on what went wrong in terms of efficient markets models and financial regulations. About 50 students and faculty attended the seminar, which was followed by a reception in the Monroe Hall Courtyard. This event was sponsored by the undergraduate Econ Club, using funds from the Alumni Gift Account.
