Registration Process

Step 1: Enroll for Courses

Regular enrollment period: Advising for fall 2008 begins on March 24; ISIS opens on April 7 (see Course Enrollment for other enrollment-related dates)

After reviewing next semester's course offerings, planning your schedule, and meeting with your advisor (if you have one) you can enroll for courses using ISIS beginning on the date and time stated on your advising access code card or provided by your advisor. The first part of this process is often referred to as "academic advising".

Schedule changes—adding a course, dropping a course, withdrawing from a course, and changing the grading option for a course—can be made only if final registration has been successfully completed (step 3, below) and within the appropriate deadlines. All blocks must be cleared before enrolling in courses. A complete listing of courses can be found in the Course Offerings Directory.

Note: If you do not enroll in courses prior to the start of Final Registration, you must complete final registration first and then add courses.

Step 2: Pay Tuition and Fees

Deadline for tuition and fee payment: See UREG calendar

Payment of tuition and fees is considered  part of the registration process. Failure to pay tuition and fees by the deadline will result in suspension from the University. By registering, the student assumes an obligation to pay for that semester’s tuition and fees.

A bill will be sent to your permanent address (please be sure that your address is correct in ISIS) and must be paid or properly deferred by the due date. If you need to make any last-minute payments to clear a registration block, you must go to the Student Financial Services or Cashiering desk in Carruthers Hall. Failure to receive a bill does not waive the requirement for payment when due. Students who fail to pay the amount due by the deadline are charged a late fee of $50 or 1.5% of the past-due amount (whichever is greater.)

Step 3: Complete Final Registration

Final Registration will be automatically completed between August 22 and August 31 for all undergraduate students who have (1) enrolled in at least 1 credit, (2) paid their tuition bill, and (3) have no registration blocks. Students must remove all blocks in order to be final registered. Those students who fail to clear their registration blocks by August 31 will not be final registered and will lose all of their fall classes. Students wishing to take a semester off from academic study must file a Leave of Absence Form (available from Garrett Hall) or risk being charged full time tuition.
