Students must have completed the registration process at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters by the stated deadlines and be current in all financial obligations to the University in order to be considered enrolled at the University. Separate criteria may apply for tuition, fees, and financial aid.
Any student carrying fewer than 12 credits in the College of Arts and Sciences is considered to be carrying a reduced course load and will be placed on Academic Warning. Enrollment in fewer than 12 credits is permitted only under extraordinary circumstances and only with the permission of the dean’s office.
Students wishing to carry eight credits or less may register through the School of Continuing and Professional Studies with the permission of their dean. Undergraduate students who have obtained such permission are restricted to taking a maximum of two courses each semester (plus any corequisite lab or discussion sections) or eight credits. College students are limited to a maximum of 16 total credits taken in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
The College offers a very limited part-time degree program. Applicants are required to have completed two years of college work. However, we will also consider applications from first- and second-year students whose personal circumstances warrant it. Part-time students are not eligible for Intermediate Honors or the Dean’s List; their satisfactory progress is assessed on an individual basis, but if their GPA falls below 1.8 or if they earn more than one grade below C- in a given semester, they will receive an Academic Warning. They may be subject to the College’s standard rules regarding academic suspension. After earning 54 hours, students are expected to have a declared major on record and to be in Good Standing in order to continue as a part-time degree student.
