While at U.Va., most Arts & Sciences students take advantage of career counseling appointments and walk-in hours at University Career Service in Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium. The afternoon walk-ins last about 15 minutes and are intended for quick questions. 45-minute advising sessions with a career counselor are available by calling (434) 924-8900.

U.Va.’s Preprofessional Advising Services office provides support for students preparing for careers in law, medicine, and other health professions including dentistry, veterinary medicine, optometry, pharmacy, and physical therapy. Students should register for the Proprofessional Listservs to ensure they are up-to-date on preprofessional information. Preprofessional Services offers walk-ins and appointments to discuss students preprofessional needs.
OptimalResume is a great tool to help Arts & Sciences students create their first resume. It prompts students to think about the wide range of experiences they have had as a student that are relevant to include on a resume. The formatting options let students see how a variety of different layouts will look, while still allowing them to personalize their resume and make it unique.
