The mission of the University of Virginia J. Sanford Miller Family Arts Scholars Program is to maintain an organization of diverse artists who work to cultivate their own artistic talent through interdisciplinary discussion and collaborative work. We endeavor to have meaningful presence in the art community while also facilitating a dialogue and close relationship between students and faculty. The program enables funding for both interdisciplinary and discipline specific research projects within the arts we represent.
Miller Arts Scholars is an enrichment program for exceptional students overseen by the chairs of the departments of Music, Drama, Studio Art, and Dance. Unlike the situation found at most large research universities, Arts Scholars are part of a small group of undergraduate students who have direct access to the best resources in the arts at the University of Virginia including personal introductions to our most distinguished arts faculty.
